Staying Safe on PayFaceValue
Whilst we've gone to our best efforts to ensure that people on PayFaceValue are who they say are, it is important that you are aware of the dangers of using PayFaceValue and you take some precautions when dealing with strangers and money online.
As the principal purpose of this website is to prevent people from making money by exploiting the ticket market, we've prepared a few tips for you to ensure that your transaction goes smoothly.
Please take a few moments to read this section carefully and please report any suspicious behaviour you come across.
Tip 1: Check that the event is actually sold out
It may sound like an obvious point, but some ticket touts like to exploit those eager fans that may not have explored all possible avenues. If you are unsure of an event's current box office situation, contact the venue directly and they will let you know whether the event is sold out and where you might be able to find tickets.
Tip 2: Protect other buyers on PayFaceValue
We've provided facilities to report listings and open disputes on PayFaceValue. the minute you dispute or report a listing, the seller's account is flagged for review - and the user's listings are temporarily removed until one of our moderators has validated your suspicions.
Tip 3: Arrange to meet the seller in person
This is the only guaranteed way to see a ticket before you buy it.
If it is at all possible, you should arrange to meet the seller to buy your tickets. If a seller lives in your area and is suspiciously against meeting you for the trade, it is advisable to move on and try and find your tickets from someone else.
Tip 4: If sending money, use an escrow service
Escrow services act as a middle man between you and the seller. The idea is that you will send them your money and the seller will send them your ticket(s). Once both have been received, the escrow service oversee the sale. If the ticket never arrives, your money will be returned to you. AuctionChex is an example of a legitimate Escrow service.
Please note, it is advisable to do some research on the escrow service you choose to use, as some may not be legitimate.
Tip 5: Never arrange a bank transfer
A bank transfer simply doesn't give you enough chance to recover your money if something goes wrong.
If a seller is suggesting a bank transfer and will not accept any other payment method, please report them and try and find your tickets from another seller.
